Eliade argues that yearning to remain in the mythical age causes a "terror of history": traditional man desires to escape the linear succession of events (which, Eliade indicated, he viewed as empty of any inherent value or sacrality). Eliade suggests that the abandonment of mythical thought and the full acceptance of linear, historical time, with its "terror", is one of the reasons for modern man's anxieties. Traditional societies escape this anxiety to an extent, as they refuse to completely acknowledge historical time.  (wikipedia Mercia Eliade)

History itself as the linear march of time is a Myth in itself,  it is the chronological succesion of the proclaimed Heroes and Treaties of Nations.  Mechanical Time is a measurement, the seconds into minutes into hours into days, a way to order society.  To make sure everyone is On Time, and only in that sense Time is Money.  It is irrelevant to the Human Experience.  Time is reduced to a measured quantity, an objective.   It ignores the true meaning of our time, the living substantial experience from our mortal perspective.

The bible is a spiritual book and as such it doesn't apply to history.  The scriptures don't need validation by history, they apply to another realm. To validate the bible and the life of jesus on 'historic validity' is not only irrelevant, it is a fallacy, as the scriptures contain knowledge and experience on the sacred.

Would sayings attributed to jesus be wrong, if the historical context he is confined to ignored? No.
The apologia of the bible makes more sense if we leave the profane historical existence and proof out of the equasion. The sayings would regain strength and validity. Only in that sense they can be validated and logically defended. This applies to all 'Holy Writings' as they concern the 'Sacred', meaning on subjects 'set aside'.

The historical interpretation of the Bible - in broader sense all spiritual books - is not just a fallacy, it is the underlying cause of all suffering.  It underlines the 'Terror of History', historical time being a chronological account from the perspective of the victorious and rulers, a chronological account of the deeds of a group.  If we include the Writings on the Sacred and imprison it to the profane i.e. we validate it as an historic fact,  we use it to advance the Doctrine of War:  the Divine Right of a certain group to attack or defend.  To create an 'Axis of Evil'.  To demonise the Enemy and atribute him all the Sins of Sodom and Gommora, that it is the Destiny of Mankind to wipe out the abominations inflicted by the predators.

Concerning Tables
A table is measured and defined as Form into a system to produce a good table.  This is irrelevant once it is experienced, at that point it enters the realm of Life.
The table will be connected to memory.  The table will be the focal point to entertain guest as a reference of 'the good times'. It could at some point be turned upside down and become the 'floating haven in a lake of lava', the table could be referred to on which an important treaty was signed.  It could become a Design Icon as referrence to a certain style period.  By Law a table, a chair and a bed is the protected individual property and cannot be seized for incasso.
The meaning of the table is the Sacred and its dimensions the Profane.  The value of the table is measured on what it represents, not on the amount of material is used.
