The Trail of Truth

In the online etymologic dictionary I found an interesting remark, which is that in the Indo-European language there is no primary verb for truth.  We cannot put it in action, it permeats through our personality.  The course of actions will determine if someone is true, that is if he is "faithful, trustworthy, honest, steady in adhering to promises, friends, etc.,"  Truth appears out of the consistency of one's actions, the personality (Egyptology: BA)

On the contrary, truth is defined in opposition to the misdeed, the sin (n.).  It is even stated that sin ultimatly is that what is real.  It is where one is judged upon, which is examined and proven to be guilty of.  The word is rooted in latin sons, meaning guilty, criminal, a convicted offender.

Truth is an abstract form in opposition to the wrongdoing which is evident and can be proven.  It is a symbol, a form that resides in the ideal, but we have a guide, a compass inside us all: the conscience, the Heart (Egyptology: KA). The conscience, that what we are aware of, we know of, and ultimately that what is to be judged on the weighing scales.  It is when the person is no more, the balance can be drawn.  The heart that is burdened with grief will not stand the test and is cast into the fire or devoured by Ammit.

In our lives the proces of purification, the removal of burdens, imperfections and flaws, the alchemical endouver to obtain Gold by purgation is the endeavor of the soul. The illusion, which buddhism reffers to, is the peeling of the layers of deciet and layers of that what weighs on the soul.  Enlightement is in essence the removal of weight and burdens instead of the propagated western notion of 'seeing the light'.  In analogy, removing the ballast enables the balloon to take flight, to embark on it's airborn journey.  Likewise the removal of illusional layers reveals the hidden realms, where Language and Reason have no meaning.

On a social level the truth is formed in a Truce and in treaties, to form Peace, which is also defined as a solution for war and strive.  An agreement that results in the silence of arms, a period of prosperity, etymologically rooted with happiness.  A temporary state of stability in Chaos, the gaping void, the Abyss and also, in the orderless confusion in human affairs.

I suggested earlier in Conserning Insperation, the eye, the Occulus, that what we use to observe that what is in existence, be single, latin Simplex, simple, without dissimulation, open, frank, straightforward, direct, guileless, artless, sincere, ingenuous.  It was a common concept that the eye emmits light outward to be able to see, and that the eye pierced through the darkness, in this understanding it is the light of the body.  If the eye is dark, in latin nequam, it is good for nothing, vile, bad, not functioning.  Yet the eyes can focus, pierce through and investigate the hidden objects and motivations.  In this way we achieve knowledge on which the conscience can judge.

It is an inward journey to find truth.  Truth isn't out there, it isn't subjective; it is a condition, related to silence and happiness, the stillpoint, the focalpoint of your existence.  It is found in the moment the apprentice becomes the Master.  'Seek untill you find, when you find you will be amazed and rule over All.'  In that way we can also connect the notion of truth with Sattva, as that what exists, everything which is in existence.

That is why truth needs to be guarded; we all have our inner compass which resonates with the experience of Truth.  Truth surrounds us, it has an odour we can percieve.  The inner Ka that forms the Ba, the personal intentions that form the character, both elude from direct observation.  But by intuition we can find similar minds, by our own experience and character we can recognize the presence of what is True.

We have the reward of the feeling of Happiness, the fleeting moments in the compagny of Kairos, instead of residing left behind with Metanoia, struck by grief and burdened by sorrow, or proverbial to have 'lead in our shoes'.  We can not own or seize truth, neither is it subjective.  Through our unique experience we gain understanding of what is true. We can percieve it, resonate with it, relate through it and be imbued by it, it exists throughout us.

truth (n.) Old English triewð (West Saxon), treowð (Mercian) "faith, faithfulness, fidelity, loyalty; veracity, quality of being true; pledge, covenant," from triewe, treowe "faithful" (see true (adj.)), with Proto-Germanic abstract noun suffix *-itho (see -th (2)).

Sense of "something that is true" is first recorded mid-14c. Meaning "accuracy, correctness" is from 1560s. English and most other IE languages do not have a primary verb for for "speak the truth," as a contrast to lie (v.).

Maat, the wife of Thoth, was the daughter of Ra, and a very ancient goddess; she seems to have assisted Ptah and Khnemu in carrying out rightly the work of creation ordered by Thoth.

There is no one word which will exactly describe the Egyptian conception of Maat both from a physical and from a moral point of view; but the fundamental idea of the word is " straight," and from the Egyptian texts it is clear that maat meant right, true, truth, real, genuine, upright, righteous, just, steadfast, unalterable, etc.

Isfet was the personification of chaos, evil and injustice. It was the opposite of Maat, and it was the task of the pharaohs to defend Maat and defeat Isfet.  Isfet was also the evil in a person's heart, and anybody interested in taking part in the afterlife had to make sure, not to be burdened with it.
